Garage Door Install : With High Lift | Part 1

Hey there, welcome back to the blog! Today's project? A garage door install. Yep, you read that right. And let me tell you, it's not the best weather for it. I'm bundled up in a sweatshirt because it's freezing and raining outside. Just a couple of days ago, it was a sunny 80 degrees. Ah, the joys of unpredictable weather!

the starting steps to installing the door

Anyway, let's dive into the task at hand. The first door is up, but I had to do some tinkering to fit it perfectly with the header. Now, onto the next one. But before we start, I'm going to cover all the exposed wood with aluminum for a clean finish. It's just a personal preference—I like things neat and tidy.

Now, preparing the opening is crucial. I want everything to be perfect before I start installing the door sections. Once everything is prepped, it's time to start hanging those sections. Sorting through all the hardware can be a bit overwhelming, but I like to group them to make things more manageable.

As I work through each step, I can't help but notice the sounds of nature outside. There's a turkey down in the woods having a grand old time, while I'm here, focused on getting this door installed.

Each section requires careful attention to detail, from installing hinges to attaching cables and rollers. It's all about following the instructions and making sure everything fits just right. And don't even get me started on cutting those bottom pieces at an angle—that's a whole other challenge.

But hey, progress is being made. The door is taking shape, and each step brings me closer to the finish line. Once all the sections are up, it's time to tackle the tracks. Adjusting them just right ensures smooth operation every time the door opens and closes.

And finally, after a day of hard work, the door is in place, snug against the seal. Part one of this garage door install is complete, but the journey isn't over yet. Stay tuned for part two, where I'll tackle the spring system—a task deserving of its own episode.
