Garage Interior | Steel Ceiling

Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Mad County Builds series! For those who might be new here, I'm Paul, and we've got a couple of exciting episodes lined up as I transition back to working in the garage.

This weekend, my electrician buddy joined me, and we tackled roughing in some of the garage's electrical work. But today, I want to rewind a bit and show you how I conquered the challenge of getting the steel onto the ceiling.

First things first, I had to put up some plastic wrap. Why? Well, I'm considering insulating the room with spray foam, and I wanted to ensure a clean surface for the metal installation.

With that done, it was time to trim out a section and start mounting the metal panels. I won't lie; it was a bit of a challenge, but challenges are what make projects like this fun, right?

We hit a snag when our lift blew a hydraulic line, but did that stop us? Not a chance. I MacGyvered a contraption using boards to support the steel against the ceiling, and surprisingly, it worked like a charm. Innovation for the win!

By the end of the day, we had the entire center section done, despite the setback with the lift. Sometimes, you've got to roll with the punches and find creative solutions, and that's exactly what we did.

The next day, flying solo again, I tackled the remaining sections. With a few makeshift stands and some careful maneuvering, I managed to get the steel up there without any extra help. Who needs a lift when you've got determination and a little ingenuity, right?

One thing worth mentioning is how I handled the trim on the edges. Instead of leaving it unfinished, I used J trim to give it a clean, polished look. It's all about those little details that make a difference in the final outcome.

Fast forward to today, and I'm thrilled to say that the entire garage ceiling is done! Well, almost. There's still the mechanical room to tackle, but I've got a plan for that too.

In the meantime, I've been prepping another area for the steel, and I'm excited to see it all come together. From the hunting room to the candy kitchen, every space is taking shape, and it's incredibly rewarding to see the progress.

Thanks for tuning in, folks! I'll be back in a couple of days with more updates as we finish off the walls and tackle the garage door installation. And hey, if you've got any questions or just want to chat about DIY projects, don't hesitate to reach out. Until next time!
