Hey there, everyone! It's June 3rd (or maybe 4th, I've lost track), and things are finally moving along with my driveway project. I've been waiting for this day for what feels like forever, and I'm hoping the rain gods will cooperate long enough for me to get all three loads of gravel that I need to lay down as my base rock.
I'm crossing my fingers that I can keep the rain at bay, so I can make some real progress. Having this base rock in place is going to open up a world of possibilities for what I can do next, so I'm pretty excited about that. The gravel delivery is imminent, so let's see how it all goes.
And there it is, folks! Load number one is on the ground, and it's a sight for sore eyes. It's been a long time coming, and I can't express how relieved I am to see this happening at last. I've been playing catch-up for about a month now.
So, as you can see, I've opted for three-inch clean gravel, which is a bit larger, but it's perfect for creating a solid base. I've decided to leave this as my foundation for now, without adding any smaller finishing gravel on top. I don't want to waste any small rocks if I need to add more bases in the future. This way, the big rocks can get packed down over time as more trucks come in and out of here.
There's still some work to do by the entrance. I'll need to remove a post and add some more rock to ensure that big semi-trucks, carrying my trusses, can make that tight turn. It's all part of the plan, and I'm hoping to get this done before the next wave of rain hits.
Speaking of upcoming plans, my storage container is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather doesn't throw a wrench in the works, and they can get it in here as planned. I'll likely have them set it off to the side of the driveway, and if all else fails, I'll use my trusty skid steer to move it around a bit.
Well, the rain is back, surprise, surprise! I just checked the radar, and it seems like I'll be dealing with more rain for the rest of the afternoon. So, I guess it's time to call it a day and head back home. But on the bright side, I did manage to get the driveway in, widened the entrance, and made some solid progress.
So, that's it for today. It's back to the waiting game as the rain pours down again. But I'm not complaining because I've got
the driveway in, and I'm making headway. With the storage container arriving soon, I'm hopeful that I can keep this project moving forward. Stay
tuned for more updates, and let's hope the weather plays nice next time!
