Post Layout + Framing | The Dog House | 24' x 48' Storage Build | Ep 5

Guys, welcome back to the show. For those of you who are new, my name is Paul, and today's episode marks the next step in our journey of building the storage shed we've dubbed "The Dog House" series. In this episode, we'll be focusing on laying out the columns, marking them, cutting them, building our walls, and getting them stood up. If any of you are interested in designing a barndominium, shop, garage, or anything similar, feel free to reach out to us, and we'd be happy to assist you. Additionally, for those of you who enjoy self-building projects, we have a Patreon group designed specifically for you. It's a fantastic community where we host live sessions, answer questions, and provide support for your projects. Now, let's dive into the episode.

easiest way to put up side walls of a post frame home

First off, we'll begin by cutting and preparing the 6x6 posts. I've decided to install a 10ft overhead door for a specific area, so I need a minimum 11ft 6in ceiling height to accommodate it comfortably. This requires precise measurements and cutting to ensure everything fits perfectly. Once the posts are prepared, we'll move on to laying out the walls and securing the columns in place.

As we progress, we encounter typical challenges like unexpected delays and minor setbacks, such as dealing with snow on the lumber or unforeseen issues like a dead car battery. However, despite these obstacles, we remain focused and determined to make progress on our project. With each step, we meticulously measure, cut, and align the components to ensure a precise and sturdy structure.

After completing the sidewall posts, we move on to framing the back wall. This involves careful planning and execution to ensure each component is positioned correctly and securely attached. We encounter challenges in selecting the straightest posts for the corners and ensuring proper alignment for a straight and uniform wall.

With the sidewalls and back wall framed, we move on to constructing the end walls. Despite time constraints and unforeseen interruptions, we remain committed to achieving our goals. By breaking the project into manageable tasks and staying focused, we make steady progress towards completing the end walls and preparing for the next phase of the project.

As we wrap up for the day, we reflect on the progress made and set our sights on the next steps. Although challenges arise, we remain determined to see the project through to completion. Join us in the next episode as we continue building out the walls and making further progress on our storage shed project. Don't forget to subscribe to stay updated on our journey, and we'll see you in the next video.

Thank you,
